Fongnet started in 1998 as a means for the Fong family to keep in touch with their friends and family in the US after we moved to Singapore. A lot of our interests lie in travelling, so we expanded the site by adding stories and photos of our travels to the site.

It also occurred to us that many people, particularly Americans, know very little about Singapore and what it's like to live in a foreign country after growing up in the United States. We try to explain a little bit of our experience to others, keeping a sense of humor about it all and hoping those who read about our adventures and misadventures will do the same.

Fongnet is written and maintained by Todd Fong, a computer geek

who should have been a writer, or so says a former high school English teacher whose opinion he highly values.

When the time comes for the Fong's to return to the United States, Fongnet may evolve into yet another form, but the experiences written about here will remain forever in their little corner of the Internet. It will be interesting to see as Singapore and the rest of the world changes how true some of the things we noted will remain.

Thanks to all of our thousands of visitors who inspire us to keep on writing about the places we've been and the things we've seen. Keep on coming back for more!
